About Us
We’re Ashley L. Duffus and James, a Toronto photography duo on a mission to capture stories that matter.
Whether it’s an event full of energy, a skyline at golden hour, or a creative project in progress, our work is about making every capture feel timeless.
About Ashley
I’m Ashley Duffus, one half of A Great Capture, a Toronto-based photography duo. I’m drawn to capturing the balance between detail and atmosphere — from the quiet geometry of architecture to the energy of a city in motion.
My photography journey began on Flickr under the username ash2276, where I first discovered the joy of sharing images and connecting with a creative community. Those early uploads laid the foundation for a practice that has grown into published work, creative collaborations, and an ever-evolving portfolio..
My last name often proves tricky to pronounce — it’s “Duff-us,” like tough-us. It comes from the parish of Duffus in Moray, northeast Scotland, home to the medieval Duffus Castle. The name is believed to be derived from two Gaelic words: dubh, meaning “dark” or “black,” and uisge, meaning “water.” Although it sometimes causes confusion, I love the distinctiveness of my name and the story it carries.
My work has appeared in both digital and print platforms, including accepted submissions with Getty Images, a Windows Spotlight featuring my West Montrose Covered Bridge photograph, and publications by Heritage Toronto, as well as numerous other features and projects.
