The Well — Bright Afternoon Under the Glass Makes Flickr Explore**

I’m excited to share that my recent photograph from The WellBright Afternoon Under the Glass—was featured on Flickr Explore this week. Even after years of posting to Flickr, seeing an image make Explore is still such a bright, energizing moment.

I’m excited to share that my recent photograph from The Well—Bright Afternoon Under the Glass—was featured on Flickr Explore this week. This marks my 178th Explore feature over twenty years on Flickr, and it still brings that same spark of joy every time.

This image was taken on November 20, 2025, during one of those crystal-clear Toronto afternoons when the light filters through the glass canopy just right. The Well is one of my favourite places to photograph downtown: spacious, layered, and constantly shifting with the day’s light. On this visit, the geometry, colour, and reflections aligned in a way that felt quietly electric—like the building was catching its breath in the golden hour.

What I love most in this frame is the sense of movement and structure: the curve of the canopy, the lines stacking upward, the echo of towers in the background, and the way the warm tones bounce across brick and metal. Toronto has transformed dramatically over the past two decades, and documenting that evolution through daily walks and patient observation has become a defining part of my creative practice.

Thank you to everyone who viewed, faved, or commented on the image. Your support means so much, especially as I continue work on my upcoming 20-year Flickr retrospective project, Two Decades of Seeing (2006–2026). This Explore image is now in the queue of contenders for the curated set and the limited print run.

Published Work: Sunnybrook Trail & Distillery Ornaments

Two seasonal Toronto images, captured in Sunnybrook Park and the Distillery District, appear in the latest Mother Earth News issue as licensed features in their Photos from the Field section.

I’m pleased to share that two of my photographs were published in the December/January 2025 issue of Mother Earth News. The images featured are my winter trail photograph from Sunnybrook Park and my hand-painted ornament photo from Toronto’s Distillery District Holiday Market.

Both appear in the magazine’s Photos from the Field section, on the last page. It’s always rewarding to see licensed work in print — especially in a publication with such a long history of environmental and seasonal storytelling.

I photographed a copy of the magazine outdoors, using a few fallen autumn leaves, as it felt like the right way to pair the issue with the colours and textures of the season.

TTC Bus in the First Snow Featured on Flickr Explore

On November 12, 2025, my photograph of a TTC bus pushing through Toronto’s first snowfall of the season was featured on Flickr Explore. It’s a little mash-up of autumn colour, winter weather, and everyday transit that’s now been seen by thousands of viewers around the world.

On November 12, 2025, one of my Toronto transit images – a TTC bus in the first snowfall of the season – was featured on Flickr Explore. This winter street photography moment combines two seasons at once: golden autumn trees in the background and heavy snow swirling around the red-and-white TTC bus.

I made this photograph on a classic Toronto weather day where the city couldn’t quite decide between fall and winter. The TTC bus is passing a glass bus shelter in the middle of a snowstorm, while bright yellow leaves still cling to the trees behind it. It’s exactly the kind of scene I love to chase in my Toronto transit photography – everyday life made a little surreal by the weather.

As of November 14, the image has received more than 6,274 views 170 favourites, and 18 comments on Flickr, with kind words from viewers in Toronto, Montreal, Germany, Portugal, Brazil, and beyond. I’m very grateful for the support and for the Explore feature.

Arts on Queen Makes Flickr Explore — A Local Gallery Through the Lens of A Great Capture

Our photo of Arts on Queen — a long-loved local gallery in Toronto’s Beaches — made it to Flickr Explore this week! Captured during an autumn walk along Queen Street East, it’s a reminder that creativity lives right around the corner.

There’s a special rhythm to Queen Street East — creative, village-like, and constantly changing with the light. On an October afternoon, I stopped outside Arts on Queen, a beloved local gallery in Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood, where the window seemed to hold the season itself: paintings of trees and fields, reflecting those lining the street.

This photo quickly became one of my favourites from the walk—and, to my surprise, was featured on Flickr Explore this week. It’s always rewarding when an image that celebrates a small, local place finds a broader audience.

Arts on Queen has long been part of the creative fabric of the East End, showcasing Canadian artists and makers in a space that feels both welcoming and full of stories. Seeing it recognized felt like a nod to the community spirit that keeps Queen Street vibrant.
