Spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery

Toronto’s Mount Pleasant Cemetery is especially beautiful at this time of year — a quiet stretch of blossoms and curved paths that feel far removed from the city just beyond its gates. On my recent walk, I brought only my iPhone, and the light was perfect: soft, filtered through magnolia and forsythia in full bloom.

From the main paths, I followed the entrance toward the Yellow Creek ravine and the Vale of Avoca, a green corridor that connects to David A. Balfour Park. The stone stairs leading up toward Heath Street East, just west of Yonge Street, offered a lovely view back over the treetops — the kind of spring moment that feels both fleeting and grounding.

Each turn revealed a new texture: petals caught on granite, branches mirrored in still water, the contrast of history and renewal that defines this place every spring.
